在琴师王春荣的帮助下，吸收京剧“西皮”和过门的某些因素，经过不断实践演出，越剧改胡琴以“1—5”定弦为“6—3”定弦。而6、3在工尺谱中为“四”、“工”，故名四工调。它使女演员的嗓音能充分发挥，从而使曲调更为清丽、委婉、悦耳动听，成为具有历史意义的创造。

英语语境:

With the help of a qin musician Wang Chunrong, the si-gong-intonation in the shaoxing opera was adjusted by absorbing the xipi tone and some musical transition skills in Peking Opera, and the tone of huqin changed from 1—5 to 6—3. 6 and 3 in the gongchi tablature are separately noted as “si” and “gong”, so the name was defined “the si-gong-intonation” which allows actresses'voices to exert as much as possible, and turn songs to be pleasant, delicate and agreeable.
