汉语语境:

僧人穿的袈裟，分为三种：五衣、七衣、大衣。五衣是用五条布缝成的，也叫做“小衣”，是僧人打扫劳作时穿的；七衣是用七条布缝成的，也叫做“中衣”，是僧人平时穿的；九条布乃至二十五条布缝成的大衣，也叫做“祖衣”，是僧人的礼服，只在出门或拜见尊贵客人时才穿；而皇帝特赐的一般会加紫色或绯色，相当于官员官服上的紫色或绯色，以此表示尊宠，所以也叫做“紫衣袈裟”，紫衣袈裟凌驾于大衣之上，是举行大法会或者朝见帝王时才可以穿的。

Kasayas can be divided into three types: monk garments made of five-piece cloth, garments made of seven-piece cloth and graments made of nine-to-twenty-five-piece cloth. Garments made of five-piece cloth are worn when monks are cleaning and working. Garments made of seven-piece cloth are on in ordinary days. Garments made of nine-to-twenty-five-piece cloth are monks'ceremonial robes. They wear them only when they get out or pay visit exalted guests. And garments made of nine-to-twenty-five-piece cloth awarded by emperor will be added purple or scarlet which is equal to officials to show the emperor's respect. So it is also called purple kasaya. Purple kasaya is more hornorable than garments made of nine-to-twenty-five-piece cloth. It is worn when holding a big meeting or having an audience with an emperor.
