夜箫是苗族特有的竹制简单吹奏乐器，又称“苗箫”。是麻江、丹寨、凯里等地区苗族青年用来寻求配偶、倾诉爱慕之情的交流媒介。在夜深人静的晚上，苗族青年小伙都要带着自己的夜箫到另外一些村寨去“游方”。当他们来到寨脚边或寨子中间的枫香树下，便吹起悦耳动听的夜箫歌来，向寨子里的姑娘们传递情思，等待姑娘们前来对唱情歌，交朋结友，缔结百年之好。

英语语境:

Miao flute, a special bamboo flute of the Miao Minority, which is a medium used by the Miao Minority in Majiang, Danzhai, Kaili, etc. to court. In the still evening, the youth of Miao often take their flute with them to socialize with the ladies in other villages. They come close to the village or stand under the Chinese sweet gum in the village, and they tend to blow their flutes to express their affection toward the ladies and wait for them to duet love songs in order to remain a devoted couple to the end of their lives.
