长期以来，人们受范晔《后汉书。班彪传》的影响，都认为班固(班彪之子)的故乡在汉扶风安陵，即今咸阳市东北。徐兴海教授等人数度实地考察咸阳、扶风两地后一致认为：班固的故里应在今扶风县，而不在咸阳市东北。因为扶风不仅有班固墓，而且还有很多有关班固及班氏家族的遗迹和传说，而所谓的班固故里“咸阳东北”一带任何历史遗存也没有。
英语语境:
Influenced by the Biography of Ban Biao, in The History of the Later Han Dynasty, written by Fan Ye, people has long thought that the hometown of Ban Gu, son of Ban Biao, was Anling of Fufeng of the Han Dynasty, which is located in the northeast of Xianyang City. After the investigations in Xianyang and Fufeng, Professor Xu Xinghai and others agree that the hometown of Ban Gu is not the northeast of Xianyang City but nowadays'Fufeng county. The reason is that there is not only the grave of Ban Gu but also many remains and legends about Ban Gu and his family car be found in Fufeng County. On the other hand, there is no relics about Ban Gu in the northeast of Xianyang City.
