In order to avoid direct conflict with America, China tried relaxing tensions in the beginning of 1965. However, this led to tougher American attitude and more fierce aggression. Afterwards, China started to show her tough position to America through diplomatic and military channels, which finally forced America to yield to the Chinese bottom line and have some reservations in the Vietnam War.
