Berstein's influential arguments include his revisionist formula and capitalist adaptation theory characterized in “movement means everything for me, the final aim of socialism is nothing”, the theories of “peaceful growing into socialism”, “no socialism without democracy” and that suffrage may “serve as a tool that turns people's representatives from people's masters into people's real servants", which revise Marxism in a comprehensive and even systematic way. Hence meticulous studies and interpretations, and consequent analyses, of Bernsteinism are an important approach to accurate understanding of the contemporary characteristics of Marxism as well as of the Democratic Socialism Thoughts which is a potential threat to the mainstream ideology of China.
