英语语境:

The leud states had to respect the Son of Heaven and abide by the Rites of the Zhou Dynasty. Hence they didn\'t enjoy total sovereignty. In a multi-ethnical country like China, it is not reasonable to judge whether these regimes were countries or not only by the central regime\'s control over them.
