With the stabilization of the political rule of the Western Han and the recovery and development of the society and economy, the power of the feudal lords increased gradually and became a threat to the central government. While the imperial court severely suppressed feudal rebellions, a series of policies was made to strengthen the central forces and weaken the local ones. The political and economic privileges of the clan-vassal were gradually retracted, new rules such as Zuo Guan Lü and Fu Yi Fa were imposed, supplemented with appeasing policies like Tui En Ling, and the clan-vassal threat was removed.
