夏朝为中国第一个农耕的朝代，夏后氏亦为第一个农耕民族。而周围的其它氏族仍然保持游牧或半游牧状态，包括商族。游牧民族转变为农耕民族后，结束了游荡不定的生活，虽然生活条件大大改善了，斗志却在不断减退，以至后来被商汤所灭。既然商族属于游牧民族，即使当时处于半游牧半农耕状态，必然经常迁移，迁都亦是常事。而盘庚迁都至殷，才正式定居下来，进行农业生产，从而建立了繁荣的殷商文化。

英语语境:

The Xia Dynasty was the first agricultural dynasty in the history and the Xia's tribe was also the first agricultural tribe. However other surrounding tribes including the Shang's tribe still kept their nomadic or seminomadic lives. When the nomadic tribe turned into the agricultural tribe, they stopped unsettling life-style. Their living conditions were greatly improved and they had less will to fight which led to their extinction by Tang of the Shang Dynasty. Even it's seminomadic and semi-agricultural period, the Shang's tribe still moved a lot as they were nomadic and the relocation of the capital was very common. It was not until when Pangeng has moved the capital to Yin that the tribe had finally settled down and began to engage in farm production and built a prosperous culture of Yin and Shang.
