The lozenge-patterned damask excavated from Tomb No.1 of Western Han dynasty at Mawangdui, Changsha city, Hunan province, is thin, transparent, soft and light. It is made of natural silks with the fiber number of 48 Denier, whose warp density is 38.5 ends per centimeter, weft density 31 ends per centimeter and fabric width 39 centimeter. The lozenge patterns are composed of two types of lines: one is a set of bold lines; the other is a batch of thin filaments, and the two types are placed at regular intervals. Because its linetype, shape modeling, spatial orientation and spatial subdivision are in harmonious proportion, the texture of the lozenge-patterned damask is clear and the craft is exquisite.
