2005年4月到8月，南京博物院考古研究所为配合宁常高速公路工程建设，对位于金坛县薛埠镇上水村的4座土墩墓进行了抢救性发掘。在二号土墩墓(D2)发现的遗迹主要包括器物群、墓葬、土台和房址，其中8座器物群和1座墓葬中出土有遗物。墓葬和其中3个器物群出土遗物有硬陶坛、瓿、碗、施釉硬陶豆和夹砂陶鼎、泥质陶瓿等。该土墩的年代为西周晚期，但D2的其他5个器物群中出土了属于商代早期的陶器，早于遗迹形成的年代，推测当为修筑土墩墓时采集商代早期遗物有意放置于土墩之中。此次发掘丰富了土墩墓的文化内涵，为土墩墓的形制和葬俗研究提供了新的材料。

英语语境:

From April to August in 2005, in coordination with the construction of the Ning-Chang Expressway, the Institute of Archaeology, Nanjing Museum, carried out a salvaging excavation to explore four mounded tombs at Shangshui Village of Xuebu Town in Jintan County. In Mound 2 (D2), the discovered vestiges include object groups, remains of tombs, earthen platforms and house-foundations. Of them eight object groups and a tomb yielded artifacts, including hard pottery tan jars, Bu (liquid containers), bowls, glazed hard pottery dou stemmed vessels, sandy pottery ding (tripods) and clay pottery bu from three object groups of the tomb. The mound can be dated to the late Western Zhou period, but the other five object groups of D2 yielded pottery belonging to the Shang period, i.e. earlier than the date of the formation of the vestiges, which must have been the early Shang objects collected in the course of the building of the mound and may be put there intentionally. The excavation enriched the knowledge of the contents of the mounded-tomb culture and provided new materials for studying the form and burial custom of mounded tombs.
