In January, 1981, lots of exquisite fancywork was excavated from one Chu Tomb at Jiangling Mashan 1. It was unprecedented that the varieties of the fancywork were huge, the standard of workmanship was very high, and the excavations were so well-preserved. This discovery was of epoch-making significance in the history of silk weaving and embroidery. Among the unearthed 35 clothing items, there were 21 pieces of fancywork, which still seemed to be brand-new as if they were made 2000 years ago. Besides, the embroidered patterns of the fancywork also showed great originality in glorious technicolor, which cannot but inspire wonder in the beholder.
