The construction and display of Xi'an Forest of Steles were settled by the repairment project in 1938. By then the steles were in classified display as in the order of the present exhibition rooms. The first room displays shijing; the second displays steles of Tang Dynasty; the third displays standard calligraphy; the fourth displays paintings; the fifth displays poetry, prefaces and postscripts; the sixth displays records and eulogies, inscriptions and mottos. The display of Xi'an Forest of Steles has experienced three major adjustments since the founding of new China in 1949.
