汉陵封土渊源于先秦墓上建筑。上古时代，墓上没有封土，因而汉代学者刘向已经不清楚周文王、周武王、周公、摺里子等人葬于长安何处。墓上出现封土大致在春秋战国之际，至于国君陵墓的封土，从目前保存下来的看，最早属于战国时代。

英语语境:

The mound of Han Mausoleum originated from the buildings on tombs of pre-Qin Period. In ancient times, there was no mound on tombs, so Liu Xiang, the scholar of Han dynasty, was not sure about the location where King Wen of Zhou, King Wu of Zhou, Duke of Zhou and Zhe Lizi and so on were buried. It was proximately during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring State Period that the mound began to appear on the tomb. However, according to the preserved tombs, the mound on the tombs of kings started from the Warring State Period.
