战国时期的楚国进入了一个新的发展时期，疆域得到拓展，楚人的足迹也随之到了边境，同时也留下了大量的墓葬。在楚国已经发掘的6000多座墓葬中，有殉人的墓葬只有20多座，但有不少墓葬附葬车马坑，包括荆州熊家冢楚墓、枝江姚家港2号墓、新蔡葛陵楚墓、安徽长丰杨公4号墓等等。其中安徽长丰杨公4号墓，车马坑位于墓西8米处，平面呈方形，出土车马饰16件，包括杠头、毂、环等。坑内未见车马，但有朽木痕迹。

Chu State in the Warring States period entered a new developing period. With a larger territory, Chu people stepped on the border, and left a large number of tombs. More than 6000 tombs have been unearthed in Chu State, among which there are only about 20 tombs with human victims, but there are a great quantity of tombs with chariot pits, such as Xiongjia Tomb of Jingzhou City, Yaojiagang No.2 Tomb of Zhijiang City, Geling Tomb of Xincai County, Yanggong No. 4 Tomb of Changfeng County, and other tombs. The square chariot pit is in the west of Yanggong No. 4 Tomb of Changfeng County, about eight meters away. 16 pieces of chariot ornaments are unearthed, including pole caps, hubs, hoops, etc. But there are no chariots in the pit, only trace of rotten wood left.
