The sard is regarded holy by Buddhism, Christianity and Islam for it has been treated as a kind of precious gem with strong religious meaning since ancient times. The ancient scholars called it as the third eye and it can be used in astrology and kardecism. Besides, it is also used as the raw material for Tibetan beads. According to Tibetan Buddhism, the sard, together with amber, tridacna, pearl, coral, gold and silver which are called as the seven treasure of the Western Paradise, is one of the best holding pieces for Buddha when practicing the Buddhism.
