北周时期墓葬是南北朝时期考古的重点，成果最为丰富。咸阳市渭城区底张镇一带，时称洪渎塬(川)，是北周皇家陵园及高官贵族墓所在地，1953年4月至7月，西北工程地区文物清理队在咸阳北原(底张湾一带)清理墓葬15座，内有北周墓3座，出有墓志、壁画及陶俑等。其中一墓出土一具大型石棺，棺盖镌有精美的阴文线刻图画。石棺左侧刻青龙；右侧刻白虎，白虎躯体及其后部残缺。

Tombs of Northern Zhou Dynasty are the focus of archaeological excavations in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, yielding abundant fruits. The Dizhang area in Weicheng District, Xianyang City, known as Hongduchuan, was the imperial park and tombs of senior officials and noblemen in the Northern Zhou Dynasty. From April to July 1953, cultural relics clearance team in northwest engineering area had cleared up 15 tombs in Beiyuan (Dizhangwan region) of Xianyang City, among which three tombs were built in the Northern Zhou Dynasty and yielding epigraphs, mural paintings, pottery figurines and so on. One of the three tombs yielded one large-size sarcophagus, of which the cover was carved with exquisite characters cut in intaglio. The left side of the sarcophagus was carved with an azure dragon while the right side was carved with a white tiger, but its body and its posterior were broken.
