The work titled Qifo Shuofa Tu (Seven Buddha Sermon Illustrations) exhibited in the Hall of Paintings of the Palace Museum is praised as a masterpiece of temple mural painting of Yuan Dynasty, but for various reasons, it is now damaged in sections to varying extents demanding urgent and effective measures to preserve this endangered work. In order to create an ideal preserving environment for murals, it is proposed to take the following measures: creating a relatively closed space; reducing the negative impact of light to murals. In the case of the second measure, it is advised to adopt measures of shielding from light. The plush curtains can be placed in front of the murals, and can be shut down when the museum close in order to reduce the light. In addition, in the mural storehouse, we can install specialized push-pull storage cabinets, in which the murals can be stored. Then, we can cover a plush curtain on each cabinet. In this way, murals are not affected by the light. Only when the management personnel enter the storehouse to check the corresponding mural, will it be affected by light. But the murals stored in other cabinets are not affected. On the whole, the total lighting time is significantly reduced.
