As an important technology to restore the ancient ecological environment of the archaeological sites, the pollen analysis has been adopted by the Western archaeologists since the 1930s. The phytolith analysis was used in archaeology by German botanists in the 1920s, but it attracted the attention of archaeologists in the 1970s, enjoyed considerable development in the 1980s, and received attention from Chinese archaeological circle in recent years. In the 1980s, the application of pollen analysis and the phytolith analysis in archaeology had been greatly promoted, and it was found that the combination of the two methods was more conducive to obtaining more comprehensive information.
