flower pot
As common wares for planting flowers and grass, flower pots are mostly made of pottery, porcelain, mud, tiles or wood. People choose different types of flower pots for different varieties of flowers. So far, the history of pot flower is untraceable. It is said that as early as in Tang Dynasty there were exclusive officers and servants tending flowers and plants in the palace. Since ancient times, relatives of an emperor, high ranking officials and common folks have their own preferences for different types of flower pots. They choose their favorite flower pots to place on their desks, in the rooms, or in the courtyards. Besides, in many paintings of ancient times, it is quite common to see various unique models of flower pots.
planter
As the ware for planting flowers and grass, the history of planters is as long as cultivating flowers. The image of ancient planters that can be seen so far is from the pottery shard, with more than 5000 years of history, unearthed in Dawenkou. Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty liked exotic flowers and herbs, so lots of gardens were built. Accordingly, the production of pottery planters accelerated in this period, most of which were fired by Jun kiln, which was one of the five famous kilns at that time. The planters in this period focused on glazed decoration. The quantity of planters fired by Jingdezhen imperial kiln was small in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and increased apparently in Qing Dynasty, especially in the ruling period of Kangxi and Quanlong emperor its amount reached peak.
