河南叶县许灵公墓出土的透空蟠虺纹饰件结构高度复杂，有多种纹样对称组成。经用多种科技手段检测，确证其为铸态的高锡青铜合金，且由失蜡法整体铸成，未见铸接、焊接痕迹，其铸作年代为公元前547年或稍后。这一研究再次证明了失蜡法是先秦铸师的重大科技创造，所谓中国青铜时代“没有失蜡法铸造的器例”的说法是没有依据的。
英语语境:
The structure of the decorative casting with hollow patterns of coiled serpent unearthed in the tomb of the Duke Ling of the Xu state is very complicated. By various technological means of testing, the artifact is proved to be the casting bronze alloy rich in tin, and it was integrally casted by means of cire-perdue process with no marks of casting and welding found on it. It was made about 547 B.C. or later. The research result proves that the cire-perdue process was an important technological creation of the makers in the pre-Qin period, and the opinion that there are no cire-perdue artifacts in the Bronze Age in China is of no evidence.
