1959年，四川巫山大溪64号墓出土一枚双面石雕人面像，这是我国新石器时代石雕人面的首次发现。墓葬距今约5000-6000年，属大溪文化的晚期阶段。石雕的原料是一种颜色漆黑、质地细腻的火山灰岩。 高6厘米、宽3.6厘米、中间厚约1厘米，顶部左右各有一椭圆状穿孔。正反两面的中间位置采用阳刻手法雕凿出造型相似的人面形象，一面脸颊丰腴、圆润，另一面较为瘦削。鼻梁挺直，圆睁的大眼，张开成O形的嘴，似因极度紧张而惊恐不已。

In 1959, No.64 tomb in Daxi Township, Wushan Town, Sichuan Province, yielded a double-faced stone-carving figure, which was the first discovery of Neolithic stone-carving figure in China. The tomb was built about 5000 to 6000 years ago, belonging to the late stage of Daxi culture. The raw material of stone carving is a kind of pumilith with dark color and fine texture. The pumilith is 6 cm high, 3.6 cm wide, and about 1cm thick in the middle with two oval holes punched in the left and right sides of the top. Similar shapes of human face images are carved in relief in reverse and obverse sides respectively. The cheek on one side is plump and round, while on the other side it is relatively thin. They are both with straight nose, wide eyes, O shaped mouth as if they felt panic because of extreme tension.
