在春秋战国时期，柜、椟、匮指的都是体积较小的匣子，供储存容纳物品之用。其中柜、橱、箱、笥以及奁、匣等类家具较注重于发挥存储功能，架格以及一部分架几案则在存放东西的实用功能之外兼具美化居室环境的装饰效果。而架格是过去放在书房的家具，每一格上可放书，书画卷轴和一些玩赏杂件等。

英语语境:

During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Gui, Du and Gui referred to small boxes, amomg which Gui, Chu, Xiang, Si, Lian and Xia aimed at the function of storage. Shelvings and part of shelves were used to store things as well as decorate the house. The shelving was the kind of furniture that was placed in the study, of which each shelf can hold books, scrolls of calligraphic works or paintings and some ornamental objects.
