缣帛档案是一种写在光洁细薄丝绢上的文件遗存，在经历千余年的发展后，尤其是在纸张被人们普遍使用之后，缣帛档案悄悄地开始退出历史的舞台。当然这既有其内在原因，也有其外部因素。缣帛档案衰落的内在原因之一是由于其价格昂贵，因此它只能适用于中上层人士，无法像竹简那样普及全国。其次它也不易删改，一般情况下要在缣帛上写东西都要先在竹简上打草稿。

英语语境:

Silken archives were file remains written on smooth thin silk. Silken archives had gradually quitted from the historical stage over the past one thousand years as the paper was widely used by people. There're both underlying causes and external factors. One of the underlying causes is that it's too expensive to use silken archives which were mainly used by the middle and upper classes and would not become as popular as bamboo slips. Another reason is that it's inconvenient to correct the content, and in most cases people needed to make a draft before writing on the silken archives.
