The Yarkhoto Site has been a national key cultural unit since 1961 and is a well preserved primary soil site with a unique architectural style in the world, which is of great academic significance for studies on histories of the Western Regions, the Silk Road and the culture exchanges between the East and the West, and on ancient cities'buildings both in China and abroad, religions, and arts, etc. The Yarkhoto had a long history of over 1, 500 years, during which period it underwent many ups and downs due to the changes of politics, military status and natural environment from the Han Dynasty when it was the capital of Jushi Kingdom to the Yuan Dynasty. Therefore, the Yarkhoto is a historical testimony of the Western Regions'2, 000 years of development.
