2004至2006年间，考古学家对八连城内城的主要建筑址进行了发掘，并清理出一、二号建筑基址及其之间的中廊和一号建筑基址两侧的东、西廊等遗迹。两座建筑基址南北向排列，中间有廊道，形制为工字形。一、二号建筑基址位于内城中轴线上，规模宏大，出土遗物包含高等级建筑上使用的绿釉脊饰和瓦件，应为八连城遗址宫殿遗迹。

From 2004 to 2006, archeologists excavated the inner city of Baliancheng site, revealed Building-foundations Ⅰ and Ⅱ, the middle corridor between them and the western and eastern corridors on the two sides of Foundation Ⅰ. The two large-sized buildings are arranged on the north-to-south major axis of the inner city and laid out in an "工”-shaped pattern, and linked by the middle corridor pointing to the north and south. The unearthed objects include high-grade structural members, such as green-glazed ridge ornaments and tiles, suggesting that the vestiges must belong to the palace buildings of the Baliancheng city-site.
