我国铁犁的形制从战国时期开始便一直向着既方便安装又增强翻土能力的方向发展。上世纪80年初，张传玺对考古出土的两件大铁犁进行了复制和试耕，试验的结果使人们倾向于铁犁脊面向下的安装方式，这对于汉代使用左右摇摆的犁铧的观点颇为有利。铁犁形制和试耕结果表明：铁犁脊面向下是不可行的，脊面向上的试耕结果正与河南内黄三杨庄发现的汉代田遗迹相吻合。
英语语境:
The iron plough had been developed in a way to further facilitate assembling and digging since its first appearance in the Warring States Period. According to the replication and trial ploughing experiment of two unearthed iron ploughs by Zhang Chuanxi in 1980s, people tended to believed that the surface with mid-ridge of iron ploughs faced downward, which supported the idea that people in Han Dynasty used ploughshare that can be swang horizontally. But the form of iron ploughs and recent trial ploughing experiment showed that it was impossible to fix the surface with middle ridge facing downward. The result of the experiment, i.e., the surface with mid-ridge facing upward, also matched the form of plough land of the Han Dynasty discovered from the Sanyangzhuang site in Neihuang County, Henan Province.
