The latest archaeological discovery showed that the ancestors of Tianjing people had lived in the hill of Jixian County in southern Yanshan Mountain and the piedmont plain, at least about 8000 years ago. At that time, they lived a settled life. With simple handmade stone implements and pottery, they undertook producing activities which mainly focused on primitive agricultural plantation and partially on fishing, hunting, and livestock breeding. Seen from the relevant data, nearly all the remains have been found with the anatomy of animals such as those of pig, dog, sheep and cow, which indicated the prevalence of livestock breeding at that place. Pottery used for fishing, stone ball used for casting prey, polished flint arrowhead for shooting birds, polished lithic flake and scrapper for cutting and scraping animal's fur and meat were unearthed in Zhangjiayuan Site, Weifang Site and Qingchi site in Jixian County. Fresh water shell, elk antler and remains of pig and fish were found as well. All the above demonstrated that fishing and hunting had played important roles in the economic life of ancestors of Tianjing people.
