According to excavations of the Northern Song Dynasty in Rui'an, Ou embroidery in Wenzhou has a long history of thousands of years. It is the traditional craft with unique nationality features in the south of Zhejiang, which can sustain comparison with the Hunan embroidery, Suzhou embroidery, Guangdong embroidery and Sichuan embroidery and is known as one of the “five famous embroidery” in China. The designs of Ou embroidery are complicated with bright colors, vivid modeling, diversified themes, exquisite composition, skillful stitch, clear texture, bright outlook, prominent topic and artful combination of painting and embroidery, etc, which reflects strong regional cultural features.
