2004年初，开封市文物工作队在对宋外城城墙进行全面钻探过程中，发现了一段约120米长的城壕遗迹及其两侧的夯土护坡遗迹。该遗迹位于开封市西北隅的黄河水利职业技术学院新校区内，西连规划中的夷山大街，南望东京大道。考古学家将发现的遗迹展现在同一个剖面图中，为人们了解宋代城墙与城壕的空间距离和位置关系、壕沟的修筑方法及其特点提供了重要的考古资料。

In early 2004, Kaifeng cultural relics and archaeological team found 120-meter-long moat relic and rammed earth protection slope on both sides of the moat under the Song outer city wall when carrying out a drilling project. The site is located in the new campus of the Yellow River Conservancy Technical Institute, northwest corner of Kaifeng City. It connects with Yishan Street in the west and faces Dongjing Avenue to the south. These unearthed relics were exhibited on the same profile by archeologists and provided important archaeological materials for the understanding of the spatial distance and positional relation between the city wall and moat, as well as the building method and the trait of moat.
