四川汉画像砖早就以它精美的艺术特色和丰富的社会内容闻名于世。过去我们说，“四川画像砖均系东汉桓、灵以至蜀汉时期制作的”。近年来收集的一些画像砖，从内容和技法上看，时代可以延续到魏晋时期。如新都县马家乡出土的画像砖，有胡人骑吏、胡服俑形毡帽等内容。四川省博物馆新近又收集到一些画像砖，从其形制、内容到艺术风格上均与汉代的画像砖有明显的区别，又有一定的联系，时代约在六朝前后，为画像砖研究提供了新的资料。

Pictorial bricks of ancient Han Dynasty in Sichuan Province have been world-renowned for their fine art features and rich social contents. Archeologists used to say, “Sichuan pictorial bricks were made during the Emperor Huan and Ling's reigns of the Eastern Han Dynasty and Shu regime”. But many pictorial bricks collected in recent years could extend the data to the Wei and Jin dynasties in terms of their contents and techniques. For instance, the bricks unearthed from Majia Village of Xindu County contained procession of mounted attendants of Hu people, Hu dressing figurine-shaped felt caps, etc. Moreover, Sichuan Provincial Museum recently collected some bricks, which were markedly different from that of Han Dynasty in the shapes, contents and artistic styles as well as kept some connections with each other. They were dated to around the Six Dynasties and provided new data for the study of pictorial bricks.
