The plumbic-glazed pottery of the Northern Dynasties has played an important role in the history of Chinese plumbic-glazed pottery. Samples of plumbic-glazed pottery from the Northern Dynasties tombs at Anyang City, Henan Province are analyzed by archeologists with the experimental methods of stereo-microscopy, petrographical microscopy, EDXRF, and DIL. The result indicates that kaolin clay was used as the body material, and the content of the chromatic elements was relatively low, thus resulting in the light colour; meanwhile, the firing temperature was higher than the plumbic-glazed pottery of Han Dynasty. The improvements in material and firing temperature provided a technical foundation for tri-coloured glazed pottery of Tang Dynasty.
