five courtyards in the east of Qian Qing Gong
On the eastern side of Qian Qing Gong (Palace of Heavenly Purity) stands five courtyards with same styles in arrangement, also known as “five courtyards in the east of Qian Qing Gong” in Qing Dynasty. Following the Ming Dynasty, these buildings were the residential palace of the princes in the early Qing Dynasty, and later, around the 30th year of reign of Emperor Qianlong ( 1765 A. D. ) they were used as Ru Yi Guan (House for Ru Yi Sceptres), Shou Cha Fang (House OF Tea for Long Life), Jing Shi Fang (Office for Administering Eunuchs), Si Zhi Ku (House for Royal Wardrobe) and Gu Dong Fang (House for Antiques) respectively. Nobody would expect that a repair plan today for these buildings could correspond to that one recorded in the document of 39th year of Qing Emperor Qianlong's reign (1774 A. D.).
