In 2001, the archeological team excavated burial pit K0007 of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and 46 bronze water birds were unearthed, among which the number of the swan was 20, the red-crowned crane 20, and the swan goose 6. The bronze crane was so beautifully and gracefully shaped that it looked like a real one. This is the first discovery in the archeological work of Qin Dynasty and which is of great significance in the history of archaeology when it comes to either the technics or the cultural meanings of the bronze crane. Besides, the excavation of the bronze crane also implies that it makes sense that the centralized Qin Empire was capable of producing more elaborative bronze cranes.
