广东珠江三角洲地区是我国蚕丝业中心之一，这里土地肥沃，雨水充沛，气候适宜，一年四季都可以养育桑蚕，每年能收六至八次蚕茧，蚕丝产量居全国第二位，仅次江浙。在广州附近的顺德、南海、三水等地，很早以来就是广东养蚕缫丝的主要地区，这里的农民，历代的手摇机进行缫丝。这里所制的土丝，也称“七里丝”或“辑里丝”，近代以来，是广东出口产品的大宗。

英语语境:

The Pearl River Delta of China is one manufacturing center of silk industry, where the farmers could raise silkworms all year round owing to its excellent natural conditions, such as fertile soil, abundant rainfall, temperate climate, etc. Each year the local people can reap immense financial rewards of silkworm cocoon six to eight times; besides, its silk yield ranks the 2nd nationwide and is only next to that of Jiangsu-Zhejiang region. The cities of Shunde, Nanhai, Sanshui, etc., which are near Guangdong, have been the major areas for silkworm breeding and silk reeling since a long time ago. The farmers here go in for silk reeling by hand-driven machines from generation to generation. The native silk produced in these areas is also called Qili Silk (the silk made in Qili village) or Jili Silk (the gorgeous name of Qili Silk) and has become a staple of export products in Guangdong province since the modern era.
