明成祖朱棣不仅是一位具有雄才大略的皇帝,而且对文化艺术有极高的品位。青花压手杯是永乐时期景德镇御窑厂创烧的专供皇室内廷使用的一种饮茶杯,握于掌中恰好与拇指指节相吻合,且因为其胎体自口沿而下逐渐变厚,置于手心有微微的沉重之感,由此而得名。永乐皇帝为巩固自己的皇权,采取了许多专制制度,其中也包括在瓷器上打上自己的烙印,唯其独享。青花压手杯内心绘有五花瓣,花瓣内书“永乐年制”四字篆书款。
英语语境:
Mingchengzu, named Zhu Di was an emperor with great talents, bold vision, and high taste in culture and art. The blue-and-white press-hand cup was a kind of tea cup that was fired in the imperial kiln of Jingdezhen, used specially in the royal palace in Yongle period. It happened to coincide with thumb sections when held in the palm, and its body became thickening gradually from the mouth to the bottom, so people would feel a sense of heaviness when they held it. That is why it was named press-hand cup. In order to consolidate his power, the emperor Yongle worked out many autocratic systems, including making his own mark in chinaware to indicate his exclusivity. Accordingly, there were five petals with four words of seal character-- “made in Yongle year” inside the blue-and-white press-hand cup.
