Chinese characters are the result of the development of human society to a certain historical stage, and the result accompanying the evolution of human beings from savage society into civilized society. Just as anything else, characters have undergone a process of coming into being and developing, and budding to maturating. From archaeological and exegetical point of view, the characters on pottery of Shang and Zhou Dynasties and the prehistoric age are closer to the protomorph of Chinese characters. With a large amount of characters information on pottery appeared on excavation of archaeological sites, these primitive symbols have attracted great attention by scholars.
