embossed design
Copperplate derives from embossed design. There has been a long history of the embossed design art that was born along with bronze vessels. The dusky dazzling inscriptions and Wenshi of the bronze wares were meant to keep a record of events or serve as a type of symbolization. Undoubtedly, embossed design had not become an independent art at that time, but obtained development opportunities on the basis of mould casting because there was not an edge tool that can be applied into the bronze sculpture. However, owing to the advancement of technology, the dagger-axe inscriptions engraved on bronzes with edge tools can be found in Eastern Zhou Dynasty. Lots of excellent embossed design artworks once emerged at different times of the Assyrian Empire, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Nepal, India, China, as well as the Roccoco Period of Europe.
