1972年至1974年，考古学家在湖南长沙市东郊马王堆先后发掘了3座西汉时期墓葬，共出土三千多件文物，大约有近千件文物上有绘画。其中，马王堆一、三号汉墓出土了不少画在丝绸上的画，这些画，目前大家都叫帛画。帛画这种叫法，虽然不算错，但汉代习惯的叫法是缯画，因为汉代称丝织品为缯。这些“马王堆汉墓帛画”，是研究汉代绘画和汉代历史的珍贵资料。
英语语境:
Between 1972 and 1974, archaeologists successively excavated three tombs of the Western Han Dynasty in Mawangdui, eastern suburbs of Changsha, Hunan Province. More than 3000 pieces of cultural relics were unearthed, among which nearly one thousand pieces were painted with drawings. From Mawangdui Tomb NO.1 and No.3, a number of paintings copied on silk which are called silk paintings at present were excavated. Though the term “silk painting” is more common nowadays, its conventional name in Han Dynasty was “Zeng Painting” because the silk fabric was called Zeng at that time. These silk paintings in tombs of Han Dynasty in Mawangdui are of great value in the research of Han Dynasty paintings and history.
