1966年4月，在上海市宝山区顾村朱家巷清理了一座明代墓葬，根据木棺上覆盖的铭旌和买地券上的文字，墓主人是朱守城及其夫人，墓葬下葬时间为明代万历早期。在朱守城墓穴中随葬了香筒、座屏、笔筒、砚台、印泥盒、镇纸和压尺等文房用品和香具。这些用品为墓主人生前使用的珍爱之物，用料讲究、格调高雅，其中还有被王世襄先生誉为“无上精品，第一重器”的朱缨竹雕刘阮入天台香筒，可见这些用具品级之高，代表了明代晚期文人书斋用具的高雅品味。

In April 1966, a tomb of Ming dynasty was excavated. According to the funeral flag covered on the wooden coffin and a certificate of land, the owners of the tomb were recognized as Zhu Shoucheng and his wife, who were buried in the early reign of Wanli of the Ming dynasty. Unearthed were writing implements and incense utensils, among which were incense tube, pedestal screen, brush pot, inkslab, inkpad box, paper weight, paper holder and so on. These articles with the feature of selected materials and lofty style were cherished by the owner of the tomb during his lifetime. Among these articles was a bamboo incense tube carved with the Scene of Liu and Ruan Ascending the Heavenly Platform by Zhu Ying. It was praised by Wang Shixiang as “beyond comparison, the best key utensil”. From the high quality of these utensils it can be seen that the study appliances of the scholars in the late Ming dynasty were elegant and lofty.
