As a unique folk weaving technique in the southwest region of Shandong province, Lu Brocade inherited from its complexity of the process, rustic practicality, colorful aesthetic and auspicious folk meaning, and had obtained great developing opportunities in the past. However, under the impact of modernization, changes of people's lifestyles and values as well as the influence of foreign culture, Lu Brocade was gradually losing the soil of survival, and faced severe challenges of protection and rescue. With the attention of relevant government departments, the weaving technique of Lu Brocade was listed as national intangible cultural heritage in 2008.

挑经通纬是流传于民间的一种传统手工织造技艺。实地考察河北威县挑经通纬织造技艺发现：其织法类似提花工艺，只是图案及提花顺序不用提前编排花本或制作纹版，而是参照预先绘制的纹样，采用简单的四蹑四综老式织机，借助挑花棒手工将显花经纱挑起，通梭引纬后交织显花。挑织纹样题材广泛，形式多样，在最简单的设备上完成了提花织机才能织造的花型，操作方便，变化灵活，是一种十分宝贵的传统织造技艺。

英语语境:

The process of wefting after picking up figuring warp is a traditional hand-made weaving skill that is spread in the folk. Based on the investigation of the weaving skill that is popular in Wei county, Hebei province, the archeologists came to conclusions that: the process was similar to jacquard but it did not need to make jacquard card or pattern card in advance. Referencing to the pre-drawn patterns, it made use of a simple old loom which only had four treadles and four heald flames, and the figuring warp was picked up by using a take-up lever and a weft was inserted, and finally the figure was woven gradually after that operation. Briefly, the process contained very valuable traditional weaving skills with the following advantages such as a wide range of pattern themes, the maximum flexibility and ease of handling.
