The research on the variety and technology of the stone cores and flakes excavated in Site No.15 of Zhoukoudian Ancient Site conducted by archeologists shows that the stone flakes were made with the method of peeling by hammering, while the method of smashing was not widely applied any longer. The patterns of the stone cores from Site No.15 reveal that two methods, i.e., peeling in all directions and peeling in two-way directions, were used in this site, which indicates that the ancient people living here were able to exploit the quartz materials skillful and systematically and employ different methods to make different stone implements according to variety of raw materials. While making the flakes, the stone implements makers just revamped the surface of the stone cores occasionally. But most of the time they made flakes directly without any revamping.
