After testing the antibacterial effect of adhesive liquid agar media with various ingredients, including alum, seeds of Chinese prickly ash, hyacinth bletilla, Stemona japonica, and cloves, the result showed that alum and baibu (Stemona japonica) were very effective in inhibiting the growth of bacetria, while seeds of Chinese prickly ash and cloves were of some effect and hyacinth bletilla no effect.
