Researchers address the issue of what types of rents, generated through network, are extracted by participating firms, and differentiate participants'rents as common rent and private rent. They are further divided into three sources: appropriated common rent, internal quasi-rent and net inbound spillover rent. All the rents are related to the partner's resource base and resource nature. Appropriated common rent is created from the shared resources of all participants and should be distributed among all members; quasi-rent and net inbound spillover rent come from the firm's non-shared resources that are affected by partner's non-shared resources, the realization of which is closely related to the network cooperation.
