Before the Asian financial crisis, South Korea carried out the export-oriented economic developing strategies, which led to rapid economic growth. In this process, the foreign investment played an important role, which shortened Korean's way to modernization and made it become one of the newly industrialized countries in only 20 years. However, South Korea took foreign loans, especially commercial loans as its main form to utilize foreign investment, which increased its foreign debts, and exerted a huge impact on Korean economy. After the Asian financial crisis, South Korea promptly adjusted its policies of utilizing foreign investment, and gradually led its economy development to the right track.
