In the past eight years, the rural appropriate health technology promotion has achieved favorable social and economic benefits in Liaoning province. An effective system of management and regulations has been established in many aspects such as needs assessment, technology selection, performance examination and quality control. Thus, some promotion experiences were accumulated. It was suggested that the development strategy under the lead of government and sectors cooperation should be established in selection and application of the appropriate technology by considering the appropriateness of the technology itself, promoting the current status of human resources, and approaches and effectiveness of human training. Moreover, tilt support should be given in policy by the organic integration of public health service and new rural cooperative medical system (CMS) and great improvement in the establishment of basic promotion modes.
