The decrease of current pension payment in pay-as-you-go (PAYG) does not necessarily have negative effects. The pension benefits depend exclusively on the allocation of capital share and inter-temporal subjective discount factor. By using Diamond Overlapping Generations Model, we find when the weight of capital in production is higher and the subjective discount factor is lower, the reduction in the contribution rate of the younger generation will increase pension benefits.
