The persistent pursuit of modernization is the basic clue that runs throughout Chinese Modern History. Meanwhile, revolution remains the key melody of the Chinese Modern History. Although the Revolution of 1911 did not change either the social nature or the miserable lot of the Chinese people, the promotive effect of the revolution upon the modernization of China cannot by any means be underestimated. The revolution not only took an important step forward from autocracy to democracy, ushered in a new stage of Chinese political modernization, but also gave powerful impetus to economic modernization in terms of policy and made tremendous historic contribution to the enlightenment of thinking and the modernization of ideas .
