John K. Fairbank is a professor in Harvard University, a famous American expert on China issues and one of the most important wise men affecting U.S. policies on China. He came to China twice in the 1940's, during which by observing and rethinking of the terrible fate of the Chinese liberal intellectuals, the corrupt KMT government and the Communists, he came to the conclusion that KMT was doomed to fail and the United States had to readjust its policies to China.
