For a country, the scope of the direct election reflects the construction of democracy. It is natural that the mode of direct election is more democratic than the indirect one. So it is inevitable that the scope of direct election should be expanded in the process of constructing the socialist democratic country in China. This thesis analyses the current legal provision and the problem faced with in the direct election firstly. Secondly it expounds the theoretical basis of expanding the scope of direct election. And it discusses the advantage of expanding the scope of the direct election in our country. At last, some suggestions to expand the direct electoral scope are put forward.
